*** YOUR DAILY DO'S - 3/29, LATE-ASS MORNING EDITION ***  Mary Park
Indivisibles! Begging your pardon for the late appearance, it’s go time for the environment this week. We need you to make some noise TODAY to
--protect against hazardous oil spills in our state
--protest against Trump’s budget cuts to climate programs
--fight climate change
***
1. Yesterday was deemed "Anti-Earth Day" by Sierra Club. Trump officially released his Executive Order on Climate Action. The order calls on agencies to ignore the impacts of carbon pollution, begin leasing coal mining rights on federal land, and calls on EPA to dismantle its landmark climate protections, the Clean Power Plan.

Comment on this post with your outrage or other reaction (in addition to posting it / tweeting it publicly, if you want).
Then, email a *personal story* to our senators.
We're hearing from Indivisible meetings with the Senators' staff that this is the most effective way to advocate with their offices.
Email about why you oppose budget cuts to climate programs:
Senator Murray: https://www.murray.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/contactme
Senator Cantwell: https://www.cantwell.senate.gov/contact/email/form

2. This is the last chance (this legislative session) to create commonsense protections from oil spills in WA state!
HB 1611 - Oil Transportation Safety Bill HB 1611 - Oil Transportation Safety Bill - is scheduled for a vote on THURS 8AM.
So call your State House Reps & the Finance committee TODAY (see below). Tell them to vote YES on 1611 for oil spill protection.
CALL:
* Your state house representatives
AND
The State House Finance committee:
Lytton, Kristine (D) Chair, (360) 786-7800
Frame, Noel (D), Vice Chair, (360) 786-7814
Nealey, Terry (R), Ranking Minority Member, (360) 786-7828
Orcutt, Ed (R), Asst Ranking Minority Member, (360) 786-7990
Condotta, Cary (R), (360) 786-7954
Dolan, Laurie (D), (360) 786-7940
Pollet, Gerry (D), (360) 786-7886
Springer, Larry (D), (360) 786-7822
Stokesbary, Drew (R), (360) 786-7846
Wilcox, J.T. (R), (360) 786-7912
Wylie, Sharon (D), (360) 786-7924
Talking Points:
- We’ll need this more than ever if the Trans Mountain pipeline comes online (more on that soon).
- This bill places financial responsibility for spill prevention and cleanup squarely on the oil companies -- where it belongs.
- The bill establishes reliable funding for critical prevention, preparedness, and response infrastructure that must be in place *before* a spill occurs.
- It directs the state to establish rules to protect Puget Sound from the increased barge and tanker traffic expected to result from the upcoming Kinder Morgan pipeline expansion and other new projects.
- It provides for a systematic review and public input on new or expanded pipeline projects that affect Washington communities.
- It creates transparency around possible conversion of refineries into oil shipping terminals.
- It is the next logical step after the 2015 Transportation Safety Act, which wrote into law improvements in the safety of and reporting on oil trains coming through our state.
