*** YOUR DAILY DO’S – WEDNESDAY, 7 AM EDITION ***   Katie Anthony
Good morning, Indivisible! Today we’re going to keep Standing Rock warm, stand for our public lands, and stand up for our friends. Got your party pants on? Let’s jam.
1. Our support of Standing Rock has always been hampered by geographic distance and the remoteness of the camps. Here’s a chance to support Standing Rock today by supporting the local people who are helping them.
FIRST, check out, like, and follow this group:
https://www.facebook.com/unkitawa/
This organization (with our very own local member Leslie Cheung – of the great cookie bake last week - and local leader Kyle Schierbeck from the Standing Rock tribe) is sourcing cords of wood in Rapid City, SD. They have trucks going to Standing Rock every couple of days.
The camps at Standing Rock need firewood and a way to move out of the flood zone. They need our support now more than ever. Standing Rock has mobilized in moving camps and cleaning up. It’s a large undertaking given the previous amount of water protectors and allies (approx 14,000!), and now a much smaller number (approx 500) are taking on the task to move camps out of the flood zone.
SECOND, please donate money to buy firewood for our water protectors:
• PayPal: 206-679-4791
• Venmo: @kyle-schierbeck
***Full disclosure: Unkitawa’s 501(c)3 non-profit status is pending, and donations to meet this urgent need are currently going to the individuals who are running the organization, until the I’s get dotted and the t’s get crossed.***
Please keep your eyes on Standing Rock!
2. Call your member of state Congress: urge them to protect public land. OPPOSE HR 621 and HR 622.
HR 622 would eliminate all law enforcement authority in the Bureau of Land Management and the U.S. Forest Service. This would undercut their ability to uphold Federal laws and regulations that protect natural resources, agency employees, and the public.
HR 621 would sell off 3+ million acres of federal land (that's the size of Connecticut!) - critical cultural and natural resources and habitats, including these examples of lands targeted:
-- Oregon: 44,000 acres around Steens Mountain and the Malheur National Forest currently used by hikers, campers, and hunters
-- New Mexico: 25,000 acres next to Gila National Forest that contain pueblo ruins, habitat for the endangered Mexican gray wolf, and popular elk hunting areas
-- Wyoming: 27,000 acres surrounding the Shoshone River just outside Cody, where tourism from fly-fishing and outdoor recreation are the town’s primary industry
HR 621 has been assigned to House Natural Resources Committee (no WA members on the committee), and HR 622 has been assigned to the House Agriculture Committee (Rep. Suzan DelBene) and Natural Resources.

3. As we plunge deeper into the administration we are continuing to look at the events of the day through the lens of race, paying special attention to how both the political actions and the social response to those actions perpetuates white supremacy - YES, white supremacy, and continues to marginalize people of color. Don't skip this! The development of your awareness of injustice has never been more necessary. Pop quiz, #Race101team…
You’re scrolling through Facebook and you see that your uncle (straight, white, able-bodied, middle-class, employed) has posted a meme of a guy yelling and pulling at his hair, saying, “Quit it with the political posts already! Can’t we all go back to hating Tom Brady?” WHY is this a microaggression, and HOW might you respond to it? Comment below, or I'mma start tagging people.
