*** YOUR DAILY DO’S – TUESDAY, 6 PM EDITION *** You may have noticed that many media outlets are giving DJT's tweet the credit for shutting down effort by congressional Republicans to oust the ethics office. NOPE. That is gaslighting, Do not permit anyone to share an article that makes that assertion without commenting to say, “ I personally know 20,000 citizens who called their representatives screaming about this action.” YOU did this. Because YOU showed up. Nice work, Pantsuiters.
1. Read this outstanding article by the fantastic Ijeoma Oluo about how to nurture responsible journalism, and how to choke out fake news. http://bit.ly/2j6H8Bn Next, make a commitment to comment, either on social media or on the comments board of any article that gives credit to DJT’s tweet for today’s Congressional reversal. A simple, “No Congressional Republican has confirmed that a tweet swayed the party’s actions. This is irresponsible reporting.” If you agree to do this at least once, comment "I'm in," on this post. If you can, share a link to an offending article so more Pantsuiters can chime in! 2. Head over to Patty Murray’s Facebook page and comment substantively on her thread about the activity in Congress today! Our Senators work for our whole state, and they need to know that we support progressive and transparent politics! Just as important, we can drive the conversation for other voters on those pages. We have to show up and set an example for how to have a public conversation! http://bit.ly/2hQ8Bp7 3. Who loves the Do's? WHO WANTS MORE? In the spirit of the new year, we’re launching a 2-month #PantsuitResolution team competition. INTERESTED? Here’s the deal: Vote in this poll to let us know which team you want to be on (please vote only once this time!) Did I miss an important group? PM me and I can add it! Look for a group message in the next couple of days with your team roster, and a list of goals to hit over the course of the next 2 months – your team can earn points by completing #PantsuitUniversity readings and conversations, gatherings, #PantsuitUp activism, and #PantsuitConnectionsto your fellow Pantsuiters. Give as much time as you're able! I promise to challenge you and support you throughout this whole #PantsuitResolution!
