*** YOUR DAILY DO’S – THURSDAY, 6 PM ***
Ready for tonight’s To Do List? After today’s press conference/dumpster fire, I bet you are. BTW, even though “have a stiff drink or five” isn’t one of the Do’s tonight, you should pretty much just assume that directive is implicit on every nightly Do’s from here on out, mmkay?
1. BHM – Tonight: Bell Hooks. Searing, clear-eyed, kickass feminist writer and activist. She is a big deal, and like James Baldwin, has never been more relevant than she is right now. Remember all those women who said, “I don’t need to go to the Women’s March because I’m already equal to men”? Bell has some words on that – in her book “From Margin to Center,” she straight-up deals the hard truth that a central flaw in feminism is this idea that the goal is to make women equal to men – because in the Western world, not all men are equal, and neither are all women, so that target never stops moving. Published in 1984 (!) this book was one of the first that dealt with intersectionality (how class, gender, sexuality, and race all combine to make far more complicated the issues of equality.) Read this short piece of hers, a response to Sheryl Sandberg, and tell me she doesn’t just absolutely slay:

2. Supporting this preschool kills like 8 birds with one stone (and by stone I mean “box from Amazon”): do you care about race equity, strengthening local community, anti-racism work, supporting small businesses, education?

Pick a gift to send to this beautiful just-starting-up Black-owned school that teaches a curriculum of anti-racism, empathy, and self-confidence to preschoolers (aka, the voters of 2032.)

3. Pick a new media outlet to support - after today’s press conference/Carnival-Cruise-dumpster-after-an-outbreak-of-norovirus-on-seafood-stew-night-fire, our media outlets need our support now more than ever – tonight I am going to follow AURN - American Urban Radio Networks is the nation's only African-American owned network radio company, and is also the employer of April Ryan, the black woman reporter whom 45 asked to set up a meeting with the Black Caucus for him. Because obviously, she knows the Black Caucus, not because she's a credentialed reporter in the press room, but because she's a black person.
YES THAT HAPPENED: http://cnn.it/2kEi4Or

(I’ll also be writing a letter to send to network news to encourage them to keep asking questions about Russia and keep “following up.” If you want to join me in writing letters and Tweeting to news outlets, comment below to give me 2-4 sentences on how you’d like to see the press act over the next few weeks!)
