***DAILY DO’S – Monday 6 PM EDITION***
Stop the presses, the ACA replacement is here!
House Republicans released their replacement for the Affordable Care Act today.

and if that makes your eyes, cross, try this section-by-section summary:
https://tinyurl.com/zw2pnfs

The new Republican plan replaces federal insurance subsidies with individual tax credits and grants to states. Individual tax credits will begin at just $2000 and increase with age, and in a late change, richer Americans won’t be eligible for them. Here’s what else we know:
--Bye-bye individual mandate. There’s no penalty for failing to have health insurance, but to encourage it, the plan imposes a 30% surcharge on those who have a gap between health plans.
--The plan preserves the ACA’s popular requirement that insurers cover pre-existing conditions. Young adults can continue to be covered by their parents’ plans until age 26.
--Planned Parenthood DEFUNDED.
--Insurers will be able to charge older consumers a higher rate than is currently allowed.
--The plan will gradually end Medicaid expansion and will also cap the per-person federal funding each state receives.

Things are happening very quickly. Republicans want to push their plan through this week, even though the cost estimate isn’t available yet (!). We need to move just as quickly to oppose the plan.
Indivisible is sponsoring an emergency call tomorrow evening. Healthcare experts will be on hand to provide an overview of what’s happening and what we can do to stop the repeal of Obamacare.

When: Tomorrow, Tuesday, March 7 at 6 PM PST

The good news: four Republican senators (Rob Portman of Ohio, Shelley Moore Capito of West Virginia, Cory Gardner of Colorado and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska) signed a letter today saying that the bill as drafted did not protect their constituents who received care under the ACA’s Medicaid expansion. Three other Senate Republicans (Mike Lee of Utah, Kentucky’s Rand Paul and Texas’s Ted Cruz) have already expressed their reservations.
Combined with Democratic senators, these seven are sufficient to bring this bill down. Let’s make sure that happens, Indivisibles!

#LookingForMore? Pssst … don’t call this replacement Trumpcare, whatever you do. Call it Republicare, so those who created this plan have to live with the consequences. Make those suckers own it.
