***DAILY DO’S – MONDAY 7AM EDITION***
This is a BIG week for the new administration. The president-elect is holding his first press conference in six month, President Obama is giving his goodbye address, and Senator Mitch McConnell is trying to use these other events to drown out coverage of a number of cabinet confirmations.
1. Read over this helpful doc (http://bit.ly/2i0a88V) for a complete list of who is up for confirmation when. Then call Senators Murray and Cantwell and let them know who you don’t want confirmed and why. If you need help the google doc contains reasons and scripts. Then spread the word. Last week our collective voices stopped the House, there is no reason to believe we can’t do the same thing in the Senate.
2. The Women's Marches in DC and Seattle are less than 2 weeks away. It’s time to start making plans.
If you’re looking to participate in the Seattle event check out the events page here: https://www.facebook.com/events/905054526294975/

3. Now, more than ever, we need in-depth investigative reporting to keep us informed of the issues that matter most to our community. Sadly "Locally, in recent months KOMO cut 10 positions, including three investigative-team members in its newsroom. NBC News shut down its Seattle-based Breaking News unit, and The Seattle Globalist, a nonprofit news site, is working to raise money from subscribers after the University of Washington announced it would no longer fund the site. Northwest Cable News was scheduled to go dark Friday." On top of these losses the region’s largest newspaper—The Seattle Times—is experiencing another round of job cuts. http://bit.ly/2iTc8EG
If you can subscribe or make reoccurring donations to local media, this is the time to do so. (The Seattle Times, The Seattle Globalist, South Seattle Emerald, Crosscut, KUOW Public Radio, KNKX.)
